Description:
The Convent of Jesus and Mary, Bangla Sahib Road, held an Inter House G.K Quiz on 19th July 2019 for classes 6 to 12. In keeping with the United Nations declaring 2019 as the Year of Indigenous Languages, the theme of the quiz was same.
The Quiz Mistress was Ms. Sonia Bareja,a teacher trainer, parent and student counselor and story teller. The quiz explored India's heritage of 22 major languages written in 13 different scripts, with over 720 dialects.
In the Middle School round, students had to identify the scripts inscribed on India's famous monuments and temples,identify the languages/scripts used to write some
famous books across the country, In another round, students had to identify the original language of some Bollywood music.
In the Senior School round, students were quizzed on the impact Indian languages have had on foreign languages. In another round, students were asked questions based on India's constitution and languages. Students also had to identify famous regional authors based on the language they wrote in.
More questions related to languages were asked in the final round, consisting of Middle and Senior school. The final winners were House Endeavour (1st position and House Enterprise (2nd position)
