August 29 is celebrated as National Sports Day in India. The day marks the commentation of the great legendary hockey player Major Dhayan Chand Singh who was born on August 29, 1905 in Allahabad U.P. The day is celebrated across the country. A special assembly was held in the Gym on the occasion. In a brief skit, the students tried to highlight the importance of sports in out lives, apart from making them aware about the significance of the Day. On this day, the President gives out three prestigious national awards, the Arjuna Award , Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award , and Dronacharya Award to the players who have excelled in various sports disciplines and won Cartels for India.
