Description:
Students of Senior School addressed a special assembly, to acquaint the audience about “Thiruvalluvar- a great poet”. Students of Class XI after extensive research spoke about the life of Thiruvalluvar, his masterpiece Thirukural and his statue erected at Kanyakumari. Recitations of English translations of extracts of Thirukural, by students of Class X, made the audience understand the universality and beautiful simplicity of the great poet’s literary oeuvre. In Middle School students prepared charts and projects based in Thiruvalluvar. Members of the Quiz Club in Senior School prepared a special presentation on Thiruvalluvar to disseminate information on the literary giant.
The highlight of the entire exercise was the pin drop silence and the receptive attitude of the audience. Students who had never heard of this great Tamil poet and his contribution were now aware of his preeminence in our literary heritage.
