Description:
ANVESHAN 2022-23
As Albert Einstein rightly said, ‘the important thing to do is to never stop
questioning.’
The Anveshan 2022-23 was held with the sole purpose of awakening the
inquisitive spirit of the students and igniting their scientific curiosity.
Anveshan 2022-23 was conducted on the 17th of August 2022 and was
put up by the science students of the senior school.
It was kickstarted by a dazzling introductory show in the morning, that
involved the lighting of chemical lamps, a detailed and interesting study of
the physics behind ballet dance, a humorous self-composed poetic sketch
about famous scientists and their discoveries, as well as a skit about
spreading greater awareness on the subject of menstrual health and the
menstrual cycle. The programme also included a parodical rendition of the
Taylor Swift Song Style, ‘Science Never Goes Out of Style’, and a short
movie made by the students, portraying popular Hollywood and Bollywood
movie scenes that defied the laws of science and explaining the flawed
logic behind them.
Once the programme concluded, the students of class 10, 11 and 12
presented a fun and informative exhibition for all, consisting of various
innovative models and experiments based on different scientific concepts
and their applications in real life. It is noteworthy that conscious efforts
were made to keep everything low-cost and environment friendly, by the
use of ‘best out of waste’ and the utilisation of recyclable materials.
One of the many models on display included a miniature replica of the
Wall-E, that was designed to navigate small distances and was made purely
out of old cardboard, rechargeable batteries and discarded children’s
toys, etc. as was a sensory robot running on Arduino computer software,
that could detect obstacles and avoid them.
The students also presented elaborate hand-made models depicting
various biological phenomena, such as the helical structure of human DNA,
a life-sized model of the eukaryotic cell, the human heart, the excretory
system, and more.
The students of classes 11 and 12 also demonstrated several engrossing
and fascinating chemical experiments, such as dancing rainbow flames, the
preparation of dry ice using chemicals, an ‘iodine clock’, and the science
behind the making of caramel chocolate and cotton candy.
Fun games based off scientific concepts such as the ‘buzzer game’, a
device that beeped whenever a loop of wire made contact with the metal
rod it was supposed to cross without touching, were enjoyed and
appreciated by the students.
The students of class 10 prepared a plethora of working models showing
‘smart’ cities and homes, including solar panels, windmills, hydroelectric
plants, turbines as well as a comprehensive depiction of their working
principles.
Colourful charts and banners on the numerous topics and questions raised
by the exhibition, were also put up the students on the occasion.
Overall, Anveshan 2022-23 was an extremely informative and enjoyable
learning experience for students and teachers alike.
